This weekend I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Amanda and Lenny’s private estate wedding, and it could not have been better! These two are a couple that I just adore! You might remember them from their engagement session at the University of Arizona shot on good old fashion film! I knew from the very first moment I met these two that we were going to have so much fun. Was I ever right! Amanda and Lenny have become dear friends to me over the last year, and it was clear they treat each and every one of their friends with love and kindness.
The laughter and the tears started early in the day as this amazing couple poured love onto the people surrounding them. Amanda gave every bridesmaid a personal note and a diamond necklace to thank them for standing up with her. Lenny gave every groomsman an engraved pocket watch. This generosity defines their spirit, and I was privileged to witness it. But I think just as remarkable was the love their friends and family poured back into them. Lenny’s sister ensured every single moment of the wedding day would be deeply meaningful by hosting them on her private estate and personally supervising the decoration details. Amanda’s brother checked in with everyone multiple time on this joyous day – offering water and taking behind the scenes pictures for Amanda to enjoy later. Their friends made drinks, brought coffee, and carried messages back and forth to ensure the bride and groom never saw each other til the designated first look.
Fast forward a few hours. Past hundreds of jokes. Past tissues being shared. Past the I do’s and the kiss. We’re at the reception where the best man has created an interactive toast, and gives the best advice he can. The bride and groom hold hands. They’re handed a duct taped box. They have to open it. Together. Using only one hand each. The message is clear. Communication in marriage is key. Amanda and Lenny laugh and enjoy this challenge, but it is a struggle. So their friends and family come to help. The message is clear. It is okay to accept help from those around you. Finally, painstakingly, the box is open. Inside they find another box. The message is clear. Sometimes when you work through one problem you find another one. The key is to persevere. Amanda and Lenny open the second box together, and are rewarded with $50… in quarters… because this is a family who loves to laugh!
Amanda and Lenny, it has been such a blessing and a joy for me to capture your love story. I know you’re going to live a life full of happiness, dogs, and Miyazaki films. I am truly honored to have become your friend and walked with you over the last year. I love you both so much, and I can’t wait to see what you do now! Here are just a few of my many favorites from your incredible wedding day.
This was one of the sweetest first looks I’ve ever seen, and I love how excited these two were to see each other!
HUGE thank you to everyone who made this possible!
