Last weekend JT and I took a road trip up to Sedona! It was a combination of work and play for me. We drove up there to photograph Monica and Jordan’s engagement session! But since Monica and Jordan are our real life friends Monica had a great idea! She suggested that we make a weekend getaway out of it! So, we rented an air bnb together, and spent the weekend with each other! We ate good food and laughed and even adventured up to the Grand Canyon!
On Saturday morning I told Monica that I was trying to convince JT to go to the Grand Canyon with me before going back to Tucson. Without missing a beat she just goes “Why don’t we go this morning?” I’m so serious. She went and asked Jordan I went and asked JT, and 20 minutes later we were heading to the Grand Canyon! Coincidentally it happened to be National Public Land Day when we went! We had no idea, so there were lots of people, but I still thought that it was a lot of fun! Seriously, Monica and Jordan and JT thank you for going on a spontaneous adventure with me!
Being at The Grand Canyon was unlike anything else. I just wanted to stare at the edge for forever. I imagined what it must have been like to discover it for the first time, and I thought about how wonderful it is that people can go and enjoy it safely. Or they can go and be adventurous with hikes and water rafting! I had been once before as a teenager, but I didn’t have the same level of appreciation for it. I have this rule that I don’t bring my camera for fun trip so that I can really be in the moment, but dang did I miss it this time!! In the future I’ll have to relax my rule for events like this one! We do have some really fun cellphone pictures though that I’m going to share!
