When I became a photographer I didn’t do it because I wanted to be in business. I did it because I wanted to connect. I wanted to help document memories, and to create heirlooms. That’s why I transitioned into wedding photography because I want to touch people’s lives and create relationships!
The first year I photographed weddings I had one wedding and that bride a groom were already my friends! Then I had three, and then five, and every year I grew my business a little more. And every year with more weddings I not only gained more clients, but I gained new friends. I felt like my family was growing!
As I became closer and closer friends with different brides I started to think “hey this bride would really like this other bride!” And actually several of my brides are friends with each other and didn’t even know they were both #susannahlynnbrides! So I knew I wanted to do something to bring everyone together! Since Jeff and I had just gotten married it felt like this was a good year to have a holiday party, and invite all the #susannahlynncouples.
After all, every weekend my couples invite me into their homes to hang out with their friends and family. Now it was my turn! My parents let me use their home, and I invited my past and future couples to come hang out with other members of my community!
This experience was incredibly humbling for me. A couple from my very first year in business came to this party. A couple who booked me more than a year out came to this party. A couple who was packing to move to a different state in a month came to this party. The couples who couldn’t make it texted me and told me how much they wished they could be there. One couple sent me a gift! And they all touched my heart.
For the most part I left my professional camera put away, only pulling it out to snap some updated profile pictures! So I hope you enjoy these cell phone photos my mom and my husband took for me. Seriously you guys what would I do without this amazing support system?
I loved this party so much because it just reminded me how lucky I am. Not just to be a big party of one big day, but to be a little part of the rest of their lives.
P.S. All those Christmas boxes?? They’re date boxes from Crated With Love, and I gave them out as party favors! Let’s be real everyone loves favors, but more importantly I want to help strengthen relationships wherever I can! Jeff and I LOVED ours, and everyone I’ve asked loved theirs too!
