Welcome to my home on the internet! Here I’ll be sharing some of my favorite lifestyle hacks, budgeting tips, and dating ideas. You’ll definitely see photos of my pets (You’re welcome!) and some mindful living ideas as JT and I work together to make our first home, the cutest little midcentury bungalow in midtown Tucson, all our own!
One of the questions I get asked the most is choosing a location for your engagement session. So I wanted to share my tips for choosing the right location for your engagement pictures!
The location of your portrait session is always up to you! And it should be a reflection of something that you love! Most of my clients choose to showcase the natural beauty of my home state Arizona. For most natural light photographers outdoor, open-air environments are always the first choice. I personally love shooting in wide-open natural spaces because the light is divine, especially during golden hour. Seriously, have you seen a cacti at sunset?? There are great options all around the state, and I’m always up for exploring a new spot together!
Your engagement session is the time to think outside the box! And I encourage you to brainstorm unique locations that you might have special access to that most people don’t. For example, maybe you, or someone in your personal or professional network, can secure permission to a location that would otherwise be off-limits, like a beautiful private estate, country club or resort. The sky is literally the limit! Spend a few minutes thinking about it and checking around. You’ll be surprised with what you come up with.
If you don’t envision your engagement pictures taking place outside there are other great options. Sometimes the weather doesn’t agree with you. It may be too too hot, too cold, or heck it started to rain! In those situations I LOVE lifestyle engagement sessions. You can see examples here and here. Having your photos taken in your home makes them uniquely you! If you don’t love the idea of having them taken in your home maybe y’all have a coffee shop or ice cream parlor you love to visit together! Incorporating those locations can make you love looking back at your engagement photos even more!
