My husband likes to joke that food is my love language. And he’s not wrong – I do love really good food! My favorite hobby might just be snacking, and my favorite thing to snack on is guacamole and chips! I mean I’m joking of course, but also where are my friends who love to eat??
If you’ve been following along for a while you know that I love to cook, and that I love to have dates with my hubby. But because we both work full time jobs, and we are living on a budget (who isn’t right?) that means that sometimes we have to get creative with date nights! Of course date night boxes are a great way to have creative activities delivered right to you. But we also really love to cook together! We actually started a little tradition where we are making our way through a cookbook, and then we snap a polaroid picture and tape it to that recipe to remember the date! It’s probably the easiest scrapbook I’ve ever made.
But this time we strayed from the cookbook, and we decided to try to recreate my favorite guacamole ever! It comes from a restaurant in Downtown Disneyland called Tortilla Jo’s! The last time we visited we got a list of ingredients, and honestly it’s exactly what you’d expect:
But there was one thing I was surprised by! They use chile serranos instead of jalapeños!
We mixed together all the ingredients, and once it was done I was SO excited to try it! I took a huge bite. And then promptly spit it out. Y’all. This was not guacamole. This was trash! The avocado had gone bad, and that’s all you could taste! So in the future we know to give a taste test as your cooking and not to wait until you get to the end 😂😂BUT the pictures are some of my favorite to date!
What’s been your most embarrassing cooking story?
