In the past I have avoided the pumpkin portion of fall time. I never would’ve considered pumpkin crinkle cookies. Because pumpkin is honestly not my favorite flavor in the world. Pumpkin Spice Lattes didn’t excite me, and I definitely wasn’t going out of my way to make a pumpkin pie! My favorite was, and still is, all things apple!
But when I got married I learned that my sweet husband actually loved all things pumpkin. Pumpkin pie is his favorite pie. He will proudly order a PSL from Starbucks! Heck, if we were Harry Potter students he’d be chugging pumpkin juice year round.
So I decided to try pumpkin again. My first attempt was a disaster. Seriously, pumpkin pie without a pie tin is just pumpkin 😂 Thankfully, I have a few amazing friends who sent me pie tins. Because you know that old saying… If at first you don’t succeed try try again! While, I did and this year’s pumpkin pie was a success! So I decided to venture even further into the land of pumpkins! This year’s new venture is try making Pumpkin Crinkle Cookies! I’m hopeful that these will be a beautiful combination of pumpkin bread (which I do like) and pumpkin pie!
I searched Pinterest for longer than I’m proud of… mostly for the recipe… and found this one. It’s by Saving Room for Dessert and it didn’t seem too hard to conquer! Plus the pictures had my mouth watering!
One successful batch of cookies later I have a few favorite takeaways! First and foremost they were delicious! Which really leans into my second favorite takeaway. And at the risk of sounding like a fortune cookie I’m going to share it with you! Try new things, or re-try things you’ve tried a long time ago! Take the time to support your spouse, and you might just find something amazing out of it!
