Welcome to my home on the internet! Here I’ll be sharing some of my favorite lifestyle hacks, budgeting tips, and dating ideas. You’ll definitely see photos of my pets (You’re welcome!) and some mindful living ideas as JT and I work together to make our first home, the cutest little midcentury bungalow in midtown Tucson, all our own!
There is no kind of pie that I like more than apple pie. It is my go to fall dessert, and am not ashamed!
But since my husband and I both work full time jobs it’s important to me that we get lots of time for dates that are both fun and not too time consuming! So sometimes that means that what could be one date becomes a two part date. I like to say that it’s just doubling the fun, but honestly it’s necessity.
Real talk, my husband works at a grocery store. It would be SO much easier to just say to him “babe, will you bring home apples and a frozen pie crust.” Seriously. So much easier. But it’s not as much fun, and we want our lives to be filled with fun!
So this year we started our date at Apple Annies, a super cute local farm that lets you pick your own apples! We had to plan that trip on a day where we were both off at the same time. It can be hard because we don’t always have the same days off. If you’re working with a rotating schedule I know you totally get it. So when we do have time off together we want to really make the most of it. Sometimes we fall into the habit of Netflix and popcorn. But it’s important that we try new things too!
I recapped our whole trip here if you want to learn more about apple picking! Once we had our apples, we were able to try four different apple recipes. And I’m shocked to say that the apple pie wasn’t my favorite one! Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious! I used my grandma’s recipe to make it, aka wing it, which is my favorite way of cooking! But we also tried some legit apple recipes from other people, and loved them! My favorite was the apple oatmeal cookies!
